Trei II by Michael Jarrell Soprano Voice - Sheet Music

By Michael Jarrell

Recordings

Trei II is based on an earlier piece for solo voice which dealt with the phenomena of the "triplication", of a person ("Trei" means three in old French), and the psychological inability to express oneself. I wanted to take this idea up again with the instrumental formation of Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire. The "triplication" concept is expressed, notably, by an alternation of different tempi, juxtaposed without transition, and by the use of texts in French (François Le Lionnais), in German (Konrad Bayer) and in English (Richard D. Laing).Michael Jarrell

Oktober 1982 in Genf uraufgeführt.
