Composed by Jeff Smallman. Score & parts. Duration 4:50. Lighthouse Music Publications #LMP B1401S/P. Published by Lighthouse Music Publications (LH.LMP-B1401S-P).
8.5 x 11 inches.
"The Lonesome Scenes of Winter" was commissioned by the South Huron District High School, Exeter, Ontario - Isaac Moore, Director. This work is loosely based on an obscure folk song. Following a hymn-like opening, the bass section is given the melodic material to begin. The melody then works its way through the entire ensemble, with a reprieve in the middle, finally coming to a triumphant, climactic set of chords at the end.
