Not a sensible choice
I totally agree with the reviewer Doug. Read the book. The theory portion is clear. However my requirements were pretty basic but not covered in this book. I need practical, creative suggestions and musical examples for the left hand. Scant coverage of voicings. Explaining a relatively complicated progression in only C major (or better still roman numerals) would have been better than the array of keys. His harmony book is much better. This was a waste of money.

The jazz musician's guide to creative practicing
In general I am disappointed with this book, it is much too wordy (especially with the sub text, which means one is reading two books at once). Secondly it is mainly aimed at piano players, I understand that horn players should be able to play keyboards, but not necessarily to the level required in this book. This also means that the examples need to be transposed to suit Bb & Eb instruments.I am not putting the book down completely as I have gained some information which is useful.
