While the tune has been listed under different names, I've known it as Star of the County Down. The traditional melody is often played in simple meter as shown below. I have chosen to use a syncopated compound meter in my treatment of the melody. In Ireland, to ramble is to leisurely wander the countryside. Sections C through F in the music wander through transformed elements introduced in Sections A and B.
