"Mother Nature's Son" from The Beatles' White Album was a spectacular single on a spectacular album, with pastoral themes. Some say it's the closest The Beatles' ever got to a full-on folk song or hymn. This is why it was shocking to me that I hadn't seen a proper orchestral arrangement for this classic song.
I tried my best at recreating the upbeat nature and background texture of the song while playing to the natural timbre of each string section as the melody (and counter-melody) bounces along to different sections. If you're looking for a piece that's fun and challenging for your advanced Middle School/High School orchestra students, or even your beginner college orchestra ensemble, then look no further!
Included are varied melodic rhythms, complex synchopations, counter melodies, sixteenth notes, dotted quarter and eighth notes, and a dramatic dynamic variation. All great things to work on with your talented students!
