Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Albert Schwarzmann. This edition: pdf. 19th Century, March, Romantic Period. 162 pages. Edition Schwalbe #1173341. Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1602797).

Johann Strauss composed his Egyptischer Marsch (Egyptian March) in the summer of 1869 on his trip to Russia. As a special feature, it contains not only orientalist motifs, but also a sequence, in which the musicians are supposed to sing la la la. It premierd on 6 July 1869 in Pavlovsk, Russia. With this march Strauss commemorates the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first time performed on 4 July 2018 by the Municipal Band of Landeck, Tyrol, in Austria conducted by Helmut Schmid at the Innsbruck Promenade Concerts in the court of the Imperial Hofburg Castle Innsbruck, Austria.
