Flute, Piano, Soprano Flute - Level 3 - Digital Download
"Edelhof Sketch" began life as a wind-band piece that composer Kazuki Shimoda wrote for his own wedding reception in August 2022; this flexible solo is drawn from it. The title comes from the wedding venue, Hotel Monterey Edelhof Sapporo. Capturing the glamorous yet refined atmosphere of the "Wagner" reception hall and the shifting Sapporo scenery beyond its windows, the piece is laced with the kind of stylish harmonies the composer's wife loves — subdominant minor, major (minor) 7th/9th chords, dominant ♯9th, and more. Elegant and warm, it shines in salon concerts and wedding settings alike. The solo part can be played on flute, clarinet, alto/baritone saxophone, trumpet, violin, or viola, making it a versatile choice for players of many instruments. The original wind-band version is also slated for publication.
