Arabesque in C Kumoi is a modal reinterpretation of Friedrich Burgmüller’s famous étude from 25 Easy and Progressive Studies, Op.100.
In this arrangement, the original tonal language of the piece has been transformed using the C Kumoi pentatonic scale, a traditional Japanese mode. The melody and accompaniment have been carefully adapted so that the characteristic flowing motion of the étude remains recognizable while the musical language shifts into a pentatonic sound world inspired by Japanese musical aesthetics.
Rather than simply transposing the notes, the arrangement reshapes melodic gestures, intervals, and accompaniment patterns to fit the Kumoi scale. Traditional Western harmonic progressions are replaced with open intervals and modal sonorities, creating a calmer and more atmospheric character while preserving the expressive spirit of the original work.
