In addition to obvious connections to Scotland’s political history, several of the tunes, ‘The Bonnie Banks o’ Loch Lomond and ‘ The Skye Boat Song’, for example, suggest a strong sense of the Scottish Countryside. It is appropriate that the Medley finishes with ‘Auld Lang Syne’, a tune which still bears the influence of Scottish Bard, Robert Burns.
