A Christmas Interlude completes a trilogy of Christmas medleys for Young Band which began with "A Christmas Prelude" (published by Boosey & Hawkes in 1986), followed by "A Christmas Finale" (published by Queenwood in 1989).
This arrangement features Hard the Herald Angles Sing as an introductory motif, followed by humorous treatment of The Twelve Days of Christmas (shortened to less than a week here). A lush setting of Away in a Manager leads to a jazz style version of Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, and the medley closes with a rousing march treatment of Jingle Bells in six-eight time, as directed by Mickey Mouse, followed by a two-four setting for the more traditional minded. Merry Christmas to one and all!
